This easy to use, low cost gauge provides a simple, accurate and reliable way to measure coatings on smooth ferrous (steel) and non-ferrous (aluminium) substrates. This gauge with it’s intuitive menu allows you to use it straight out of the box.

  • Fast and accurate reading rate: Greater than 60 readings per minute.
  • Large, easy to read display:
  • The angled, ‘enlarged’ display is ideal for viewing from all angles.
  • Simple ‘zero cal’ feature: Complete with factory calibration reset if no access to the uncoated substrate.
  • Auto switches to Ferrous or Non-Ferrous: Ideal for measuring paint or powder on both steel and aluminium surfaces.
  • Metric or Imperial measurements: Readings can be displayed in microns or mils.
  • Bigfoot™ probe for repeatable results: Integral probe with V-groove allows accurate positioning on smooth, flat surfaces. Ergonomic design for maximum comfort: Easy to hold gauge allows for regular daily use.
  • On-screen instructions:
The User is guided through the functions of the gauge - in over 20 languages.
  • Rugged & Reliable:
Built from ABS plastic, this durable gauge is ideal for the paint & powder coating environment.

Coating Thickness Gauges
Coating thickness gauges are used for the measurement of coatings on all metal surfaces. Digital coating gauges are more accurate, more repeatable and more reproducible than any other coating thickness gauges available on the market today. Mechanical coating gauges are the ideal choice when coating thickness needs to be measured in areas where batteries cannot be used or are difficult to obtain. For example in remote locations, underwater, where dangerous gasses are present, you are looking for a basic coating thickness gauge to measure coatings on ferrous substrates.

Ideal for both smooth and rough blast profiled and surfaces, the Elcometer 456 has multiple calibration options for accurate, repeatable readings. With its large, backlit screen the Elcometer 456 range clearly displays the readings and statistics instantaneously. All menus are available in multiple languages and selected by the User. The memory can store up to 40,000 readings in 999 batches. Readings can be directly outputted to either a printer or to a PC, making the production of reports quick and easy. The Elcometer 456 remains one of the most advanced hand held coating thickness gauge on the market today and is available with either Integral probes (built in) or an extensive range of separate plug in probes.
