Reusable system saves time and labor expense associated with mortar capping of individual concrete cylinders for compression testing. The handling of hot capping compound with ladles and melting pots is eliminated. Systems are available for 6x12", 4x8", 3x6" cylinders, and for 2" cylinders and 2-1/8" rock cores. The system is comprised of two plated alloy steel retainers and two tough 1/2", (12.7mm) thick neoprene pads. The pads flow under compression to fill irregularities in cylinder ends and assure load uniformity. Pads are reusable up to 100 times or more with qualification testing. Retainers are permanent with normal use and care. Inside and outside bearing surface of the retainers are plane within 0.002" (0.05mm).
