MC-GPS / PC5L-GPS
Full-featured GPS Power

The MC-GPS consists of a rugged, waterproof MC5 hand-held computer, an attached GPS antenna and a GPS receiver integrated in one convenient, hand-held package. It can serve as an all-purpose GPS data collector and navigator. In addition, you can turn the GPS receiver off and still have a fully functional field computer that runs application software such as spreadsheets, databases and programming language programs. Easy Base Station Management.

The PC5L-GPS consists of a rugged, waterproof PC5L hand-held computer (using the MS-DOS® 5.0 operating system), an integrated GPS receiver and an attached GPS antenna in one convenient, hand-held package. It can serve as an all-purpose GPS data collector and navigator. In addition, you can turn the GPS receiver off and use the PC5L, a fully functional field computer that allows you to run your PC programs just as you would on your desktop computer.

Powerful, MS Windows® Based Processing Software

Using PC-GPS differential correction functions, MC-GPS provides 1 to 5 meter accuracy. MC-GPS can collect data for three different types of locations: a point (one location, for example a corner post, tree or stop sign); a line (a series of points connected together, for example a road, sidewald or waterway); or an area (a line that ends the same place it began, for example a lake, park boundary or parking lot).

As an authorized ESRI developer, CMT offers you easy export of your data to your GIS application software. PC-GPS exports to:

  • ESRI Shapefiles®
  • ArcInfo®
  • AutoCAD® DXF
  • ASCII
  • ODBC
  • Intergraph DGN

FEATURES
Fully Integrated Field Software

MC-GPS feature's CMT-FIELD®, our fully integrated data collection software. Its intuitive, point-and-shoot interface will get you up and running quickly, whether you are a newcomer to the field of GPS or an experienced GPS professional.

CMT-FIELD's® powerful database functions allow you to tie the detailed data you need to each GPS point - saving you time in the field and increasing your data analysis efficiency in the office.

Compatible with Coast Guard Beacon Receiver
Obtain real-time differential correction with CMT's Coast Guard Beacon Receiver package.
Obtain 10 - 30 cm Accuracy with Carrier Phase

Using the carrier phase option, the MC-GPS -CM can attain centimeter-level accuracy (10-30 cm) without separate data collectors, antennas or poles. Uploading and processing your carrier phase data in PC-GPS is virtually the same as processing C/A code data. Behind the scenes, however, is a robust carrier phase processor (CMTCM) that will provide either a FIXED solution (ambiguities fixed to integers) or FLOAT solution (ambiguities resolved to real values). The program will notify you of which type of solution was used. You may also process the same data with the standard C/A code processor by simply selecting the CMT Differential processor.

The MC-GPS-CM offers the ultimate in flexibility, allowing you to do a variety of tasks. It can be used to record 1 -5 meter data in addition to 10-30 cm data. For example, if you have a job that requires 10-30 cm accuracy on the property corners but only requires 1-5 meter accuracy on the streams running through the property, the MC-GPS would be the perfect tool. It can perform both tasks in the field without skipping a beat. In the past, you would have needed two different types of GPS receivers to do this job.

Output Options
The MC-GPS has two waterproof DB-9 RS-232 serial ports (COM1: and COM2:) that facilitates communciation with a PC and a variety of additional input and output devices such as:
RTCM-104: Realtime DGPS
Simply plug the MC-GPS's COM1: port into an RTCM-104 source (i.e. FM pager, VHF radio, WADGPS). MC-GPS will automatically detect and use the RTCM message. Since the MC-GPS has two DB-9 serial ports, you can use COM1: for RTCM and still have COM2: available for a barcode reader or NMEA output to another instrument. Don't worry if you lose the RTCM message while you are collecting data; the MC-GPS will automatically warn you and record raw data so you can post-process your data. You'll never be stuck with uncorrectable data!
NMEA 0183: Position Output
MC-GPS will send out an NMEA 0183 message, at an interval specified by you, to either COM1: or COM2:. This functionality allows the MC-GPS to output a GPS position to devices (i.e. digital cameras, sonar, etc.) that will accept an NMEA 0183 message. There is no need to change your instrument settings. The MC-GPS communications can be set to match your instrument. In the NMEA Setup screen, you have complete control over the baud rate and protocol settings.
Interface with RS-232 Compatible Instruments
MC-GPS's flexibility shines when it comes to interfacing with external RS-232 insturments such as laser rangefinders, digital calipers and a number of others. Characters coming in through the COM port appears as if they are being entered through the keyboard. CMT offers a variety of off-the-shelf application software for the MC-GPS. For example, our Surveyor's Assistant software accepts input directly from survey total stations.
Efficient Data Entry with Barcode Input
Attach a barcode wand to the MC-GPS and you can quickly enter data. Barcode menus can be setup in such a way that the you never need to touch the MC-GPS keyboard.
