The MultiMet Translators are designed to connect a variety of recorders and dataloggers to Met One Instruments' meteorological sensors. Various versions of the MultiMet Translator allow for a wide variety of input and output configurations. Additionally, it will accommodate a wide range of sensors of other manufacture.

The basic Models 123/125/126 MultiMet Translators contain a single 2270 Interface Module for signal scaling and conversion. The MultiMet Models 131/132 are designed to utilize multiple Interface Modules. The 131 will accommodate up to three modules and the 132 will take up to six modules. The 131 allows for the additional output features of 540 Wind Direction and 4-20 mA outputs. The 132 doubles the size of the 131 MultiMet Translator.

Packaging
Various packaging configurations are available for both the single card MultiMet Translators and the Model 131/132 multiple card Multi-Met Translators. They vary from being a very simple wall mount, a benchtop version, rack mounted or designed for outdoor use enclosed in a Nema 4X junction box.

OPERATION

Signal cables from the sensor are directly connected to the translator using screw terminal blocks. The electronics of the translator condition and scale the signals for use by a wide variety of recorders or other data acquisition units. Output signals, typically, 0-1 VDC, are available at screw terminals. Power required is 12 VDC, which may be provided by battery or adapted from 110/220 VAC.

* Actual power requirement is dependent upon the exact configuration of the Multi-Met Translator. A basic unit with a single 2270 card requires approximately 8 mAat 12 VDC. Additional cards such as the 2450 current driver would require 20 mA per channel.

Bench Mount Single Card MultiMet Translator Packaged in a small plastic case with terminal connections extending through the rear case. This is the basic MultiMet translator, designed to accommodate a single seven channel 2270 card. It provides an economical way to translate the sensor signals to uniform voltage outputs. Included is the 2270 card and AC to 12 VDC power supply module. Specify 110 or 220 VAC. Unit measures 10” w x 8” d x 3-1/2” h (25 x 20.3 x 8.9 cm).

Rack Mount Single Card MultiMet Translator Packaged for rack mounting in RETMA 19” equipment rack. Requires 8-3/4” rack panel space. Terminal connections are made at the rear of the rack panel. Weather Proof Single Card MultiMet Translator The single card MultiMet Translator is mounted inside a weather proof NEMA-4 enclosure. The unit is designed to accommodate other devices within the large empty space of this enclosure. Dataloggers, recorders, batteries, modems, etc. have all been mounted in this enclosure. Optional lightning protection can be provided in this configuration using the 2269-1 surge protector card. Supplied with a single 2270 card and AC to 12 VDC power supply module. Specify 110 or 220 VAC. A special cable “pass through” gland is located on the bottom of the of corrosion resistant fiberglass enclosure. If mounting to pole or pipe is required the Model 2800 Mounting Kit is recommended. Unit measures 17-1/2” h x 19-5/8” w x 10” d (44.5 x 49.8 x 25 cm).

Black Box Single Card MultiMet Translator Specifically designed to provide the most basic housing for the MultiMet Translator, the unit is mounted to a wall surface, placed inside of junction boxes, or inside equipment racks. The unit is primarily for use by OEM's that are integrating the Met One Instruments products into their datalogger system. Supplied with a single 2270 card and AC to 12 VDC power supply module. Specify 110 or 220 VAC. Unit measures 8” d x 11” w x 2” h (20.3 x 27.9 x 5 cm).

Bench Mount Multi Card MultiMet Translator The 131BM is similar to the 123BM in basic function, but with the addition of “built-in” lightning protection, and expansion slots for both the MultiMet Companion Board Model 2430 and the MultiMet Current Driver Board Model 2450. Atotal of three card slot positions are available. This unit is the choice for single level tower applications on long term monitoring projects. Housed in a distinctive case with rear slotted cover plate access to the terminal connections. Supplied with a single 2270 card and AC to 12 VDC power supply module. Specify 110 or 220 VAC. Unit measures 6-7/16” h x 8–5/16” w x 11” d (16.4 x 21.1 x 27.9 cm).

Rack Mount Multi Card MultiMet Translator The 131RM provides all of the same functions as the 131BM but is designed for mounting in a standard RETMA 19” equipment rack. Wiring connections are made on the back side of the rack mount panel. Supplied with a single 2270 card and AC power to 12 VDC power supply module. Specify 110 or 220 VAC. Unit measures 19” w x 8-3/4” h x 5-3/4” d 48.2 x 22.2 x 14.6 cm).

Weather Proof Multi Card MultiMet Translator The 131WP provides all of the same functions as the 131BM but is enclosed in a spacious NEMA-4 rated fiberglass enclosure. Much like the 123WP, there is plenty of room for the addition of other items in the enclosure. AC power connection duplex receptacle is also included inside this enclosure. The fiberglass enclosure is corrosion resistant, and will provide years of service in a wide range of environments. A special cable “pass through” gland is located at the bottom of the enclosure. Supplied with a single 2270 card and AC power to 12 VDC power supply module. Specify 110 or 220 VAC. For mounting on poles or pipe, a Model 2800 Universal Mounting Kit is recommended. Unit measures 17-1/2” h x 19-5/8” w x 10” d (44.5 x 49.8 x 25 cm).

Bench Mount Multi Card MultiMet Translator Specifically designed for use with two level tower applications. The 132BM provides all of the functions of the 131BM but is capable of holding six cards instead of the three cards of the 131 series of MultiMet Translators. Like the 131 series, lightning protection is provided on all input channels to the translator module Model 2270. All connections are made behind the front panel of this bench mounted enclosure. Supplied with two 2270 cards and an AC power to 12 VDC power supply module. Specify 110 or 220 VAC for power. Unit measures 9- 3/4” h x 20” w x 13” d (24.8 x 50.8 x 33 cm).
