It is widely accepted that accurate jar testing is one way to help produce the
highest quality water possible, as economically as possible. The consistently
reproducible results
obtained by Phipps& Bird JarTesters assist
water and wastewater
treatment plants around
the globe in achieving
their goals by helping to
determine the optimal
dosing for their specific
conditions.
Today, there are four
world-class Phipps& Bird JarTesters from
which to choose. Each
is designed to meet
specific, yet different,
needs. Each is
constructed with the
same quality and
craftsmanship that have gone into all our jar testers for more than 70 years.
The PB-700™ Series Six-Paddle Standard JarTester, the “classic” gang stirrer,
incorporates all the most-asked-for features. Constructed on a powder-coated
steel uniframe chassis, six stainless steel 1” x 3” paddles are spaced six inches
apart and are adjustable to a maximum depth of nine inches. An electronic
motor control system offers regulated variable speeds of all paddles
simultaneously, from 1-300 rpm, with the exact speed clearly displayed on a
digital readout. A fluorescent lamp floc illuminator is built into the jar tester base
to provide soft, diffused lighting of samples being tested. Each unit comes
complete with your choice of either six standard, round, glass, 1-liter laboratory
beakers or six B-KER2® square, acrylic, 2-liter testing jars, and is covered
by a one-year manufacturer’s warranty. All JarTesters are
available in 120V, 60Hz or 220V, 50/60Hz. |

For smaller labs where space is a limitation PHIPPS & BIRD offers compact Two- and Four-
Paddle JarTesters™ that have all the same features as our bench top Six-Paddle models.
The PB-980™-Series Two-Paddle JarTester’s small size
makes it an ideal tool for Chemical Sales Reps to
demonstrate the effectiveness of their coagulants. The
programmable version, outfitted with B-Ker²® Lab Jars, is
pictured at left. |
| The PB-750™ and PB-950™-Series Four-Paddle Jar
Testers are perfect for the small lab with limited countertop
space. Like the PB-980, they are available in Programmable
and Standard versions (pictured below).
The PB-750, PB-950 and the PB-980 Series JarTesters are
constructed with the same quality and craftsmanship that
have gone into all PHIPPS & BIRD jar testers for almost 75
years. Built on a powder-coated steel uniframe chassis,
stainless steel 1” x 3” paddles are spaced six inches apart and are adjustable to a maximum
depth of nine inches. A fluorescent lamp
floc illuminator is built into the jar tester
base to provide soft, diffused lighting of
samples being tested. |

The Programmable feature elevates jar
testing to a higher level of precision by
utilizing four operator-programmable
memory banks that offer virtually
unlimited stirring capabilities. Each
memory bank may be programmed with
paddle speeds from 5 to 300 rpm in 1-
rpm increments and run times from 1
second to 59 minutes, 59 seconds in 1-
second increments. Turning off the
stirrer does not erase the programmed information. The stirrer may be run independently in
any one of the memories, continuously at a selected speed or sequentially through the
memory banks. Running it in ‘sequential mode’ permits automatic transitioning from a fast
mix/short run to a slow mix/long run, or any combination or speeds and times desired to
replicate actual plant conditions and operation.
Each JarTester comes complete with your choice of B-KER2® square, acrylic, 2-liter testing
jars or 1-liter round glass beakers. All Phipps & Bird JarTesters are available in 120V, 60 Hz
or 220V, 50/60Hz and are covered by a one-year manufacturer’s warranty. |
And now you can make your jar test results even more meaningful by
adding a Phipps & Bird Column Filtration System™ to your jartesting
system. The Column Filtration System accurately simulates the process
of a direct filtration water treatment plant, right in your lab!
The Column
Filtration System™ (CFS) is used
to simulate the process of a directfiltration
water treatment plant.
The device is an accessory piece
of equipment for the traditional
Phipps & Bird JarTester Stirrer
with B-Ker2s (not included). |

B-Ker2® Floc Jars
2-liter molded square acrylic jar complete with PVC ball valve
and sampling cup (10cc). The ball valve is used for taking
samples and is 10cm from the 2-liter fill line. |
