The RIMCO 8000 series rain gauge utilises the bucket and siphon assembly of the high performance RIMCO 7499 series to ensure accuracy and a long service life but at a lower cost.
All materials used are corrosion resistant and designed for almost all environmental conditions.
The RIMCO 8000 is accurate to within 3% up to 380mm/hr and 5% up to 500mm/hr.
Rain falling on the 203mm (8”) diameter collecting funnel is directed through a siphon control unit and discharges as a steady stream into a precision two compartment bucket mounted in unstable equilibrium. As each compartment fills the bucket tilts alternately about its axis. Each tilt produces a momentary contact closure as a result of a magnet sweeping past a reed switch. Each contact closure corresponds to 0.2mm, 0.25mm or 0.5mm of rainfall according to bucket capacity.
