The ShearScan 10 Direct/Residual Shear Apparatus utilizes the pneumatic loading concept for applying the vertical load to the sample. In doing so, this self-contained model eliminates the need for numerous weights used in dead weight systems.

The microprocessor-based ShearScan 10 system incorporates a stepper motor drive system, a large graphical display, a touch-sensitive keypad and forward/reverse travel limit switches. Built-in data acquisition (4-channel) automates testing by setting the starting and stopping conditions.
The Shear-Scan 10 is designed for harsh lab environments. The vertical/horizontal loading mechanism and shearbox assembly are mounted on a 1.25" (30mm) thick solid aluminum bas on a sturdy steel enamel-painted cabinet. The strain rods and the shear boxare stainless steel. The shearbox carriage (water chamber) is anodized aluminium cast for corrosion resistance.
