From 30 to 240 Channels; complete with headstages, amplifiers, and data acquisition and analysis software. A-M Systems is proud to partner with Datawave Technologies and Triangle Biosystems to bring to you a complete, yet easy-to-use, high-density extracellular recording system.

The new MultiRecord system is capable of recording from 30 to 240 channels simultaneously from freely moving animals using a simple commutator. For example, a 30 channel system only requires a 4-line commutator thanks to the creative use of multiplexing technology found in the TBSI headstage package. Need to record from 60 channels? Then, you only need a 5-line commutator, rather then a break-the-bank 60-line commutator.

With each additional 30 channels, only a single line is added to the commutator. An additional Model 4000 Amplifier is required, as well as another 30-Channel headstage. The outputs of the multiplexed headstage are fed directly to a TBSI demultiplexor unit, whose output in turn is connected to an A-M Systems Model 4000 30-channel amplifier. With computer controlled filtering and gain, the Model 4000 fits seamlessly in the system between the TBSI headstage and the Datawave Sciworks Data Acquisition and Analysis package.

All amplifier settings are controlled by the Datawave package during real-time data acquisition. SciWorks® Experimenter is a real-time data acquisition, analysis, and instrument control application designed for a wide variety of electrophysiology experiments, including:

SciWorks® Experimenter provides the user with a single interface to control instrumentation, perform real-time data analysis, including multi-unit spike sorting and separation, generate complicated stimulation patterns, and write data to a multiple of common industry defined data formats.

Data Acquisition and Data Analysis processes are seamlessly integrated into a single software package. Users can define how the experiment should be run, collect data, run complicated anaylsis tools, and store raw and analyzed data all at the same time, without having to change software packages


Our new Model 4000 30-Channel Amplifier is designed to mate seamlessly with the TBSI 30-channel multiplexed headstage system and the Datawave Sciworks Data Acquisition and Analysis Package.

The Model 4000 has 30 independent gain and filtering stages that are controlled in realtime by the Datawave software package during data acquisition. Full access to the Datawave A/D card is available on the front panel.
  • Available gain values are: 1.0, 2.0, 5.0, 10.0, 20, 50, 100, 200
  • Available high pass values are (Hz): 0.3, 1.0, 3.0, 10.0, 30, 100, 300, 500
  • Available low pass values are (kHz): 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 1.0, 3.0, 5.0, 10.0, 20.0
